I'm a menswear designer currently living in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
After graduating Fashion Design at the University of Arts and Design Cluj-Napoca, I started building up my work experience as an apprentice in the cutting and pattern making area at a menswear factory in my hometown of Oradea. During this time, I laid the foundation of my technical understanding of the fashion industry, working alongside pattern makers, pattern graders, cutters and sample machinists. Upon completing a year long apprenticeship, I was given the role of sample room manager, and I also took a much more active role in design and fit meetings. After preparing a capsule collection for one of the factory's customers, I was given the role of menswear designer. I gladly took this opportunity and continued to prepare new designs, organize the sampling room and source new fabrics and accessories.
The next challenge of my career was pattern drafting and grading. I had the opportunity to learn these skills in the same factory environment, after implementing CAD drafting and cutting systems. The process consisted of digitizing the sample pattern, making any changes according to customer's specs, grading in required size range and preparing the layout for the cutting machine.
Currently, I'm an Industrial Designer at a company that specializes in tamper evident products for a wide range of industries, including banking, medical, retail, aviation and secure logistic industries. Complementing my role as a designer, I also prepare patterns and cutting layouts and, more recently, took an active role in the printing side of our production as well.
